テクノポリス2000-20

寒い日が続きますが　今日も宜しくお願いします。

先週のblogでも述べましたが　私は子供の頃から　好きなものに対する執着心がもの凄く　かなり深いところまで追求してしまう　本当に変わった子供でした。　相撲だけではなく　恐竜、野球、なわとび？、核融合～原子力　そして音楽！　その中でも　YMO（Yellow Magic Orchestra）に対する熱の入れようといったら　奇知外を超えて変態でした。（笑）　彼らとの出会いは　私が小学５年生（１１歳）だと記憶します。　ある時　当時の友達だった佐藤君（別名サトーマン）が　YMOのカセットテープを自宅に持ってきて　「これすげーぞ！　聞いてみー」と　いつも冷静沈着な佐藤君が　大興奮して　手を震わせながら　そのテープを私に渡して　初めてのYMO体験が始まりました。

その後　中学を卒業するまでの約５年間　二人でいろいろとYMO周辺の情報を調べ上げかなりのYMOコレクターになっておりました。　しかし　今　思うと一つだけ手にしてないというか　どうしても手にしたいものが一つだけあります。　それは・・・・・・・。

 

確か　私がYMOショックを受けた年（たぶん１９８０年）だと思うのですが

放課後　いつものように佐藤君の家に遊びにいきました。　そして　裏庭から「佐藤君！　遊びましょう？　佐藤君　遊びましょう？」　と呼んだのですが　その日に限って　なかなか佐藤君が　顔を出しません。　１０分少々　待っていましたが　お昼に食べた給食があたったのか　急に腹が痛くなってきてしまい　「あっ！まずい（汗）　帰ろう」と思った　その瞬間　佐藤君が　裸足でラジカセ片手に　家の縁側から飛び出してきました。　その映像にもビックリしましたが　そんなことより腹の調子が悪くなってきて　佐藤君を笑うことより　トイレ問題の方が重要な状況になってきていたので　「サトウマン　悪いけど　帰るよ」と言ってその場を去ろうとしました。　その時です　満面の笑みを浮かべ　佐藤君がラジカセのスイッチを押して　いつものYMO？の音楽を流しました。　流しましたが　いつもの音というより明らかにライブの音源で　それまで一度も　聞いた時のない音色でした。　すぐさま私は　「何これ　パブリックプレッシャーのライブ」？　佐藤君「違うよ」　「じゃぁ　アトランティックツアーの音源」？　「１９７８年　中野サンプラザでの凱旋ライブ」？　佐藤君「違う　違う」　「じゃ　何」？　　佐藤君「先月（４月）にやったNHKホールでのライブの音源さ　今さっき　FM東京でやってたから　途中からだけど　録音したんだよ」　　「え～　今日　FMでそんなのやってたの？　うぇ～　でも　すごいなこの音　教授（坂本　龍一）　バリバリに弾いてるよね」。　そんなこんなで　お腹の痛みは　いつの間にか　何処かへ飛んで行き　二人で何も語らず　日が暮れるまで　何回も何回も　その音を聞いていました。

曲は２曲のみ録音されて　「コズミック　サーフィン」と「千のナイフ」だけでした。　　しかし　あんなにもフェイザーをふりかけた強烈なプロフェット５の音は今も昔にも聞いたことはなく　本当にあの時の演奏は素晴らしかったのだと　記憶しております。（１９８１年のウィンターライヴでの　シンセの音にまるでディストーションをエフェクトしたアバンギャルドのも凄かったけど　またあれとはちと違う）　後で知ったのですが　当時のツアーのメインギターは　故大村　憲司だったのですが　ツアーの途中で体調を壊し　代わって鮎川誠、藤井丈司がギターを弾いていたらしいです。　また　サブキーボードも　矢野　顕子にかわり　橋本　一子が担当をし　かなり　坂本　龍一の比重が多くなり　結果的に　あのような　超過激な演奏になったのかなぁ～と想像します。

 

その後　佐藤君は受験勉強が忙しくなり　こちらは陸上に忙しくと　二人の仲は　だんだんと離れっていったのでした・・・。

 

時は過ぎ　私も１０代の後半に差しかかったとき　高校からの友人　荒木君（彼も凄いYMOファン）と過去のYMOライブの回想をしていて　ふとしたことに気づきました。　高「荒さん　そういえばさ　1980年の第二回　ワールドツアーに行く前の　国内でやったあのライブ　何て言うんだっけ」？　「教授が　黒いサングラスかけててさ　黒のタクシードのコスチュームで演奏してた　あれだよ」　荒木「あ～　矢野　顕子が出なかった　あれか？？？」　「思い出した！！！　TECHNOPOLIS 2000-20だ！！！」　　高「そう　テクノポリス2000-20」だよ　間違いない。。。　高「でもさ～　あの時の映像や音源って　全然　聞かないし表にでてないよね」　荒「そういえば　そうだ」　高「でも　あの時の演奏は　昔　FMで聞いた事　あるから　絶対にマスターテープ　あるはずだよ」　荒「本当に聞いた事あるのかよ？　あの時の音源！　嘘つけよ」　高「嘘じゃないよ　俺が小学５年の春　確かに聞いたんだよ」　荒「何で断言　出来るんだよ！」　高「当時　そのツアーを回った時期と俺がそのライヴをFMで聞いた時期がぴったり合うんだよ。　それに　音がツアー前後の1979と1980のワールドツアーの演奏とはかなり違っていたんだよ」「本当だよ・・・」　荒「お前が　そんなに言うんじゃ　信じようか・・・　でも凄いな　でどうだった？」。　　

 

そんな感じで　それから約２０年　私は　幻のテクノポリス2000-20のライヴ音源を探しつづけておりますが　全然　その欠片ひとつ　見つかっておりません。

佐藤君とも高校以来　連絡をとれなくなり　ネットや雑誌などに　随分と依頼をしましたが　一向にその情報が掴めておりません。　　もし「その音源を持ってるよ」っていう方　いらっしゃいましたらば　是非　ご一報下さいませ。　宜しくお願い致します。

 

そんなこんなで　長々と自分の思い出話から探し物の依頼と身勝手な高橋ワールドをご覧いただきましてありがとうございました。

Technopolice 2000-20

Chilly days are continuing, but please bear with me again today.

As I mentioned in my last blog, I was a very different kind of child who had strong attachments and inquiring minds toward whatever interest me. Not only sumo but I also liked dinosaur, baseball, jump rope, nuclear energy and MUSIC! Especially YMO was the one that made me really excited like a maniac among others –laugh-.　 As I recall, I was a 5th grader (11 years old) when I discovered them.　 One day, my friend Sato-kun (aka. Satoman) who was always calm, shouted excitedly to me “This is awesome! You have to listen!!” and handed me that tape with his trembling hand.

Since then, we researched about YMO and we both became quite a collector of them during 5 years until we graduated from junior high school.　 But when I think about those days, there was one thing I couldn’t get and I still  want to get really badly. 　That is......

I think that was same year I got YMO shock (probably it was 1980),

I went to Sato-kun’s house after the school as usual. Then I called him out “Sato-kun, come out and play! Sato-kun, come out and play?” but that day he didn’t.  After 10 minutes of waiting, I started to have a stomachache from school lunch I ate.  Just when I thought I had to go home, Sato-kun ran out from deck of the house barefoot with a radio/cassette player in his hand.  I was fully surprised with that scene but rather than laugh about it I felt big urge to go to the bathroom and I said to him “Sorry, Sato-kun but I’ll go home” as I was leaving his house. At that moment, he pushed start button of cassette player and had usual? YMO music ran.　　He ran the music but that wasn’t usual sounds, that was obviously live sounds and that was something I never heard of. “What’s this? Live from Public Pressure?” I asked him right the way.　”No” Sato-kun said.　 ”Then, sound source from Atlantic Tour?”　 ”Live from the return live at Nakano Sun Plaza in 1978?” Sato-kun said “No, no”　 ”Then what?”　　Sato-kun told me “this is from the live at the NHK hall in last month (April). FM Tokyo was airing it so I recorded.”　”Wow, did FM air such a program? Gosh, sounds awesome, the professor(kyoujyu) is grinding it, isn’t he?” 　 With all that happened I forgot my stomachache and we listened that tape over and over until dusk without a word.

Only two songs, “Cosmic Surfing” and “a Thousand Knives” were recorded. 　 But I have never heard such a powerful Prophet5 with so much phaser effect on even now and I remembered it as an unbelievable performance. (The avant-garde sounds with distortion effect on the synthesizer at the Winter live in 1981 was really powerful also, but it was still different.) 　 Later, I found out that main guitar at that tour was the late Kenji Omura who had a health problem during the tour and Makoto Ayukawa and Takeshi Fujii had replaced his part. 　 Also, Kazuko Hashimoto had replaced Akiko Yano as a sub-keyboardist and I imagine that resulted in more weight on Ryuichi Sakamoto to go such a extreme performance.

After that Sato- kun became busy with high school entrance exam study and I became busy with track and field, our relationship fall apart naturally...

Sometime later when I was in late teens, I noticed something when I was recollecting YMO live sounds with Araki-kun who is my high school friend and also big fan of YMO. 　　Takahashi asked “Asa-san, What that live before the second world tour in 1980 called?” “The one that the professor with black sunglasses and black tuxedo.”　 Araki said “Hmmm...The one without Akiko Yano?”　 “Oh, I remembered!!! That was Technopolis 2000-20!!!”　　Taka said “Yeah, that’s right. That was Technopolis 2000-20. But we don’t hear or see anything from that, do we?”  Ara said “That’s true.” 　Taka said “There should be a master tape because I heard that performance on FM radio before.” 　　　

Ara said “ You got to be kidding? That live sounds! You are lying.”　 Taka said “That’s not a lie. I really heard that when I was a 5th grader.”　 Ara said “Why can you be so sure?”　 Taka said “Because time matches perfectly when they had the live tour and when I heard them on FM radio. Moreover, that sound was different from the live before and after in 1979 and 1980.” “Its true...”　 Ara said “All right, I will believe you since you said so.... but that sounds awesome. How was it?”　

20 years later, I’ve still been in search of the sound source of the fable live Technopolis 2000-20 and unfortunately, I haven’t found any thing, not even a tiny piece of it.

I lost contact with Sato-kun since high school and I kept on searching for the sound source thru internet and magazines with no lead.  　

If you have the sound source, please let me know.

At last, thank you all to bear selfish Takahashi world such as my long reminiscence story and my request for the fable live.

In general, it seems the world is heading towards harder times with sub-prime loan problem lined up in the front. But please be always positive. 　 Always have your heart like a sun.
